Job summary

United Launch Alliance (ULA) is seeking a Safety Engineer to review launch vehicle specifications, perform safety assessments, and prepare safety documents for customers and regulators. You will audit operations, participate in investigations, and help ensure a cost-effective safety program while traveling up to 25% and supporting multiple programs.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, 2+ years of related experience, leadership ability, independent work, and the ability to obtain a DoD

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 2+ years of related work experience (Master's degree substitutes for 2 years).
  • Ability to lead projects to successful completion.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Travel up to 25% may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Review vehicle and system specifications to establish safety requirements.
  • Perform independent assessments and provide safety recommendations.
  • Prepare safety documents for customers and agencies.
  • Audit operational areas and report on safety program effectiveness.
  • Participate in accident investigations and determine corrective actions.
  • Evaluate interrelationships of safety requirements with design and development.
