Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a senior ground systems software engineer to design, integrate, and maintain NSS-focused ground capabilities. You will partner with cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into robust system designs and secure software solutions for space missions.

You will apply your expertise in security, system integration, and DOORS, guiding testing and deployment while mentoring others. A TS/SCI clearance and a strong communications skillset are essential.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in space mission ground systems, with focus on NSS software development, standards and requirements.
• Strong understanding of security protocols, encryption, and data integrity principles.
• Experience in system integration, testing, and performance tuning.
• Expertise in requirements definition and management, preferably using DOORS Next Generation (DNG).
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative team.
• Strong written and verbal communication to convey complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain ground systems advancing NSS initiatives.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to capture requirements and define system architecture.
• Develop software solutions and ensure compliance with security standards.
• Conduct system-level testing and performance optimization for reliability.
• Support full software lifecycle: requirements, design, coding, testing, documentation, maintenance.
• Share expertise and mentor on ground systems engineering practices including security and scalability.
• Ensure ground deployments meet regulatory and security requirements, including TS/SCI.
• Document configurations and provide training to operational teams.
• Engage with government customers to align ground engineering with program objectives.
