Job summary

Blue Origin, based in the United States, seeks a Senior Cyber Systems Engineer to design and implement cyber security architectures for in-space systems, linking flight software data to ground operations and test engineering.

The role emphasizes risk assessment, compliance, and secure data handling across spacecraft networks, with collaboration across spacecraft development, operations, and test teams to ensure a robust cyber posture for our missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or certification in cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with space systems cyber standards incl. CNSSP-12, NCSDMO-8, CNSSI-4003, CNSSI-4005 and NIST 800-53.
• 10+ years experience in Space systems command and data handling systems.
• Knowledgeable of cyber security strategies and practices within the National Security Space industry.
• Active TS/SCI Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and configure network topologies and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, routing).
• Use outcome-driven metrics to measure cybersecurity effectiveness and drive improvements.
• Assess compliance using monitoring technologies and audits; recommend corrective actions.
• Document space vehicle network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Support internal and external audits with documentation and evidence of compliance.
• Maintain policies aligned with security frameworks, regulations, and internal standards.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify threats and vulnerabilities across in-space systems.
