Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Perception Lead to drive perception algorithm development for autonomous navigation and on-orbit sensing. You will define the perception architecture, guide development across camera, LIDAR, and RADAR data, and collaborate with GN&C and avionics to integrate perception into flight systems.

You will mentor engineers, shape roadmaps, and stay ahead of CV/ML advances, with travel and national security considerations. This role requires U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 8+ years in CV, sensor fusion, or perception for autonomous systems.
• Led perception architecture and algorithm strategy without formal management.
• Proficient in C++ and/or Python for perception development.
• Experience with multiple sensors (camera, LIDAR, RADAR, IMU) fusion.
• Experience with real-time or embedded software constraints.
• Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and integration of perception algorithms for autonomous navigation and situational awareness.
• Architect CV and sensor fusion pipelines across cameras, LIDAR, RADAR.
• Define strategy and roadmaps for perception subsystems.
• Drive object detection, tracking, and scene understanding in dynamic environments.
• Ensure software development best practices for V&V.
• Collaborate with GN&C, avionics, and systems engineering teams.
• Support HITL/SITL testing and flight campaigns.
• Mentor junior/mid-level engineers.
• Communicate findings to program leadership and stakeholders.
• Stay current with state-of-the-art perception techniques.
• Support proposals and technical reviews.
