Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Sourcing Specialist for OPEX (Starlink) to drive supplier selection, contract management, and strategic sourcing for Starlink production.

You will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to deliver cost-effective, reliable parts and assemblies on aggressive schedules. Qualifications include 3+ years in procurement or 5+ years in lieu of a degree, ERP/MRP experience, and strong data analysis skills with Excel, SQL, and PowerBI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, material planning, production planning, supply chain management, or engineering; OR 5+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with MRP or ERP systems and managing BOMs, work orders, and purchase orders.
• Experience with forecasting, demand planning, and lead time analysis.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving environment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple ongoing projects.
• Strong track record for achieving results with measurable wins.
• Strong data analysis skills using Excel, SQL, and PowerBI.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and machines (mills, lathes, waterjet, laser cutters, sheet metal fabrication).
• Familiar with finishes and coatings (paint, powder coat, anodize, heat treatment).
• APICS certification, Six Sigma certification, or similar certifications.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills across all levels.
• Ability to work in ambiguous environments and across organizational boundaries.
• History of self-learning and applying new tools and techniques.
• Ability to learn quickly and prioritize to meet customer and company needs.

Responsibilities

• Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices for assigned categories.
• Forecast demand, evaluate capacity, and manage inputs to adjust incoming material.
• Track high-risk components and supplier delivery performance.
• Communicate clearly to influence decisions of vendors and senior leadership.
• Interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Create sourcing strategies for all mechanical custom and COTS hardware.
• Develop a preferred supplier network and minimize cost and lead time.
• Support commodities including machined parts, electromechanical equipment, large machining, finishes, and assemblies.
• Solve complex problems with speed and efficiency.
• Manage outsource fabrication projects including planning and vendor performance.
• Perform onsite vendor capability reviews.
• Author contract documents with the legal department and manage supplier performance against contracts.
• Understand contract interrelationships and apply sound business reasoning to contract needs.
• Utilize negotiations to maximize value and reduce risk.
