Job summary

Cloudera is seeking a Federal Civilian Senior Solutions Engineer to lead the technical sales process across federal civilian agencies. The role emphasizes turning complex data into actionable insights, designing solutions with Cloudera tech, and demonstrating value to government customers.

You will work with public sector clients to understand requirements, present architectures, and drive technical wins while maintaining a close partnership with account teams.

Qualifications

• A passion for using technology to make a difference to people and organizations.
• A minimum of 8 years experience in a customer-facing role, ideally in a pre-sales context.
• The ability to create and give technical presentations and demonstrations.
• Experience with Big Data, Data Warehousing or Relational Databases.
• Data Engineering, Data Science or Machine Learning.
• Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP. Private cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes.
• SQL, Python, R, Spark, Airflow, NiFi, Kafka, and Flink.
• Unix or Linux.
• Experience gathering and understanding customer requirements.
• Understanding of federal civilian agencies and their data requirements.
• Clearance preferred (DOE Q clearance).
• Understanding of US Federal Public Sector regulations and authorization frameworks (FISMA, RMF, NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical sales process from introductory meetings through post-sales.
• Support the technical needs of customers including discovering new use cases for Cloudera’s technology.
• Design solutions for customers’ needs using Cloudera technologies based on reference architectures.
• Demonstrate Cloudera products to inspire customer buy-in.
• Partner with Account Managers to show value and drive sales success.
• Present product roadmap and vision to inspire customers to think bigger.
• Interface with other Cloudera teams to ensure a single Cloudera voice.
• Advocate for customers’ needs to Product Management and Engineering.
• Participate in external publicity and evangelism (conferences, meetups, webinars, blogs).
