Job summary

Edward Jones seeks a highly experienced Solution Engineer to lead complex engineering efforts across multiple teams, focusing on feasibility studies, tradeoffs, and scalable design patterns.

You will mentor engineers, set technical direction, and drive best practices in testing, observability, and distributed systems within a cloud-first environment. The role emphasizes collaboration with product, QA, SRE, and UX teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or MIS preferred or related work experience.
• 10+ years experience in software and infrastructure engineering.
• Ability to multi-task and participate in multiple large and complex efforts or projects.
• Deep understanding of operating critical & enterprise hardened production systems and Observability to reduce toil and MTTR.
• Fluent in multiple programming languages; strong Java or JavaScript.
• Expert in test automation with mastery of unit and integration tests.
• Mentor with positive, solution-oriented attitude and strong communication skills.
• Expert in design patterns, Domain Driven Design and scalable Microservices.
• Experience with distributed caching, event-driven and streaming frameworks preferred.
• Experience in Azure cloud environments and both relational and non-relational data stores.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex technical challenges by identifying information, analyzing systems, and communicating findings to stakeholders.
• Develop and implement solutions to complex engineering challenges; influence technical approach.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, QA, SRE, and UX to address high-impact problems and share expertise across teams.
