Job description

Xometry is seeking an experienced and charismatic engineer for a key customer-facing Solutions Engineer role. This position supports Sales by providing insights, feedback, and knowledge from the aerospace and defense engineering community. It combines customer engagement, technical expertise, and project management. Solutions Engineering reports to the Pre-Sales Engineering team, which is jointly led by Sales and Operations.

Responsibilities:
  1. Customer Engagement and Sales:
  • Partner with Account Executives to drive account growth and retention.
  • Identify, organize, and execute major projects.
  • Participate in onsite visits with customers when appropriate.
  • Proactively identify and resolve manufacturing challenges, including DFM.
  • Stay informed about customer projects to align with Xometry's capabilities.
  • Gather customer insights to inform sales strategies.
  • Pre-Sales Engineering:
    • Assist with knowledge gathering and preparing accurate, competitive quotes.
    • Combine customer, partner, and system knowledge to meet customer needs and manage projects.
    • Provide project management for complex opportunities.
    Qualifications:
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing roles.
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
    • Experience using Xometry's services as a customer; partner experience is a plus.
    • Deep familiarity with organizations like Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, SpaceX, etc.
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, drawings, and GDT.
    • Extensive CNC machining experience; knowledge of composites, plastics, harnesses, and sheet metal fabrication is a bonus.
    • Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100d, ITAR, NIST, and related standards.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including in remote environments.
    • Ability to travel 25-35% to customer and partner sites.
    • Reside in Mountain or Pacific time zones.
    • Experience with CRM systems like Salesforce.
    • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
