Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to lead IT infrastructure operations for the Z Machine and Z Beamlet facilities. The role emphasizes secure, reliable, scalable systems, and close collaboration with scientists, engineers, and cybersecurity professionals.

You will guide architecture, operations, and accreditation activities, develop SSPs, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements while driving modernization across compute, storage, and network

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, CS, Engineering or related STEM field plus five+ years of related experience.
• Experience architecting, administering, or supporting complex enterprise IT infrastructure across OS and virtualization.
• Experience applying cybersecurity requirements, security controls, compliance, risk management, and accreditation processes.
• Proven technical leadership to shape solutions and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Z Machine IT Infrastructure Operations team, manage work intake and ticket queues, and ensure reliable IT services.
• Architect and guide implementation of scalable, secure infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, and identity.
• Lead or support development of cybersecurity System Security Plans (SSP) and accreditation artifacts for facility networks.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and mission stakeholders to translate requirements into secure architectures and plans.
• Develop and improve configuration management, patching, vulnerability remediation, monitoring, and automation using PowerShell, Python, and CM tools.
• Troubleshoot complex issues impacting Z Machine operations and coordinate cross-disciplinary responses.
• Create and maintain technical and cybersecurity documentation and procedures.
