Job summary

Leidos is seeking a senior Solutions Architect SME to join the Chinook Program supporting an Intelligence Community customer. This role provides architecture leadership across application, cloud, data, security, and infrastructure domains.

The ideal candidate will influence decisions across multiple teams, translate mission requirements into practical engineering solutions, and mentor engineers while delivering secure, scalable capabilities.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required per contract.
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; 12-15 years of experience.
• 12+ years of progressive experience as a Solutions Architect or equivalent senior role.
• Experience designing and implementing complex enterprise or mission-critical applications.
• Strong experience with software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, data, and cloud technologies.
• Experience translating complex requirements into executable technical solutions.
• Experience collaborating across software, systems, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and testing.
• Strong understanding of modern cloud and software engineering practices.
• Experience with architecture documentation, architecture decision records, and roadmaps.
• Leadership in engineering teams and influencing strategy.
• Experience leading architecture reviews and technical working groups.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve end-to-end solution architecture across domains (application, cloud, data, integration, security, infrastructure).
• Translate mission, business, operational, functional, and non-functional requirements into secure, scalable solutions.
• Develop architecture strategies, roadmaps, reference architectures, and design patterns; lead trade studies.
• Provide technical direction to engineering teams, review designs, resolve cross-team issues, ensure alignment with architecture.
• Lead cloud and DevSecOps architecture efforts, including cloud-native design, CI/CD, IaC, observability, resiliency, and DR.
• Integrate security and mission assurance into architecture decisions from the start of development.
• Support Agile and SAFe execution through PI Planning, backlog refinement, runway development, dependency management, and release readiness.
• Define and govern integration strategies, API and interface standards, interoperability approaches.
• Communicate architecture decisions, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and technical leaders, promote engineering excellence, drive modernization and reduce technical debt.
