Job summary

Nexamp seeks a Senior Electrical Performance Engineer to independently improve reliability, availability, and performance of its solar PV and BESS assets. You will analyze field data, diagnose failures, and drive corrective actions to extend asset life and maximize value.

The role is hybrid from our Lawrence, Boston, New York City, Chicago, or Washington, DC offices and reports to the Director of Performance Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience.
• 2+ years in solar and protection relays (breakers, reclosers, power logic controllers).
• Professional Engineer license is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own plant protection, controls, and compliance strategy across devices and settings.
• Engage with utilities on grid-interaction issues and interconnection compliance.
• Improve system reliability by evaluating protection schemes, relay timing, and inverter control.
• Collaborate to improve design standards, drawings, and protection philosophies.
• Lead data-driven reliability efforts using logs, events, and EMS data; propose actions.
• Own fleetwide monitoring and diagnostics, refining thresholds and escalation workflows.
• Develop analytical models and performance standards for Nexamp's PV and BESS fleet.
• Represent Performance Engineering in cross-functional initiatives and mentor juniors.
