Job summary

Muon Space seeks a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive cross-functional planning and execution for software programs, coordinating with software, hardware, science, and product teams from concept to launch.

You'll develop schedules, uncover gaps, flag risks, support resource planning, and ensure clear communication across stakeholders in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment. The role is hybrid with on-site work in San Jose, CA three days per week.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years as software engineer or similar technical role
• 3-5+ years managing or coordinating software development projects
• Strong experience establishing and optimizing software project management processes
• Technical background with knowledge of software development methods, tools, and infrastructure
• Proven ability to communicate with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience leading cross-functional planning and risk management across multiple teams
• Bias toward clarity, accountability and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Define objectives, scope, milestones, and success criteria with engineering and product stakeholders
• Build and maintain project timelines, track dependencies, monitor progress, adjust plans as priorities shift
• Identify risks early, coordinate mitigation plans, surface blockers, drive timely resolution
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across software, hardware, science, and product teams
• Provide concise, actionable updates to stakeholders and leadership on progress, changes, risks and decisions
• Identify inefficiencies in workflows and help implement better practices and tools
• Forecast resource needs, track capacity, support prioritization and staffing decisions
• Coordinate software releases and communicate readiness criteria to impacted teams
