Job summary

Element Biosciences is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer to own verification across instrument software, firmware, hardware, cloud services, and data-analysis interfaces. This hands-on role will translate requirements into clear test strategies and evidence, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, compliant product quality.

Based in San Diego, the role is on-site. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in software or systems testing, experience with regulated product

Qualifications

Derive test coverage from requirements and user stories with traceable plans.
Experience testing software, embedded systems, firmware, cloud services, and data-analysis apps.
Strong Linux, command-line, log analysis, and SQL/NoSQL experience.
Experience with regulated software lifecycle and quality systems.
Ability to create clear test documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

Design, document, and execute verification activities for complex software features.
Translate requirements into traceable test plans, cases, and protocols.
Perform functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing across platforms.
Configure and maintain test environments with software, firmware, hardware.
Troubleshoot defects using logs, CLI, databases, and test evidence.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve end-user experience.
Create review-ready test documentation per SDLC and design controls.
Identify automation opportunities and contribute to maintainable tests.
Communicate test status and risks to leads and stakeholders.
