Job summary

QuidelOrtho is seeking a Staff Software Test Engineer, Embedded Systems, to verify next-gen diagnostic platforms, develop automated test suites, and lead end-to-end testing across instrument software, cloud connectivity, and interoperability.

The role is hybrid in San Diego, CA, roughly 1 day onsite, with responsibilities spanning test strategy, automation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software testing experience.
• Experience with Python scripting.
• Experience testing embedded software.
• Experience testing in Linux-based environments.
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test systems (Squish, Robot Framework).
• Experience writing test plans and test cases.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Experience with Agile development processes.
• Experience estimating, planning, and sequencing software testing work.
• Familiarity with FDA, ISO 13485, and software design controls is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the testing strategy for instrument software across development lifecycle.
• Create, execute, and verify test plans and test cases.
• Design automation-ready test cases and collaborate on test scripts.
• Lead testing with internal and third-party teams for cloud and connectivity.
• Ensure design control and testing docs in FDA-regulated environment.
• Provide effort estimates, technical input, and risk insights for planning.
