Job summary

HII in Maryland is seeking an experienced Software Test Engineer to design and execute testing strategies for the Minotaur product and vendor systems. You will lead test activities, collaborate with the design team, and help ensure mission readiness through rigorous validation.

Responsibilities include reviewing requirements, creating test scenarios, performing manual and automated testing, and reporting results to the design team.

Qualifications

Job description

• Devise and apply testing procedures for HII’s Minotaur product and products from outside vendors
• Review software requirements and prepare test scenarios
• Participate in design reviews and provide input on requirements, product design, and potential problems
• Create, develop, execute, and close tests
• Analyze test results for database impacts, errors or bugs, and usability
• Perform moderately complex analysis and troubleshooting
• Design manual and automated test procedures
• Prepare reports on software testing activities and report to the design team
• Support system integration events on aircraft during ground and flight tests
• Potentially fly on aircraft to support system integration, testing, and operator training
• Guide and mentor junior Software Test Engineers
• Collaborate with a seasoned team across multiple technical domains
• Advance testing of prototype solutions for the Minotaur Mission Processor, which processes airborne sensor data for military missions

Requirements

• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Master’s in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
• 2-4 years experience in software testing/development in a Linux command line environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a close team environment
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US level Secret clearance
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Software, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Preferred: 2-4 years experience leading test and test automation teams
• Preferred: 2-4 years experience with network communication protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, etc.)
• Preferred: 2-4 years experience scripting in Python, Bash, CSH, etc.
• Preferred: 2-4 years experience with Agile software development methodology
• Demonstrated ability to successfully apply educational background to real-world engineering problems
• Previous leadership experience in leading small software test teams
• Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity
• Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances
• Lifting and moving materials may be required
• Willing to travel between 10-20% of the time
