Job summary

Onto Innovation is seeking an experienced Software Test Engineer to verify and validate complex software for the Inspection Business Unit. You will contribute to next-generation solutions in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high quality across projects and platforms.

You will design test strategies, develop automated and manual tests, and collaborate with software, hardware, and manufacturing teams to validate requirements. Your work will directly impact product reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software testing and/or systems level testing for highly technical applications.
• Ability to design test strategies and plans based on requirements.
• Experience with scripting (Python, JavaScript) and client/server testing.
• Strong Windows/.NET (C#, C++) skills and relational databases (SQL Server a plus).
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum or Kanban methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform requirements-based and system level testing across projects and platforms.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, manufacturing and applications teams to validate software.
• Analyze and verify software requirements for testability and clarity.
• Develop comprehensive test plans for new features and products.
• Investigate, reproduce, log and elevate issues/defects.
• Develop and execute automated and manual tests, including regression and acceptance tests.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of software to ensure high quality.
