Job summary

The Department of Social Services (DSS) ITS division in New York City seeks an IT Project Specialist functioning as a Senior Software System Engineer. The role oversees complex IT projects from initiation to completion, leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating tasks using Agile methodologies and JIRA.

Responsibilities include database design on Microsoft SQL Server and developing browser-based applications with .NET Core, C#.Net, AngularJS, and related web technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in CS/engineering or related field with four years of full-time experience or equivalent.
• Associate degree with six years of experience in relevant area and specialization.
• Eight years of experience with relevant tech stack can substitute for degree.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, plan, manage and coordinate complex IT projects from initiation to completion.
• Identify and manage IT project risks and resource needs using Agile and JIRA.
• Provide day-to-day oversight and leadership of multidisciplinary project teams.
• Coordinate, track, and report on project tasks and progress for service operations readiness.
• Lead teams in designing high-performance database structures on MS SQL Server and developing browser-based apps using up-to-date technologies.
• Drive improvement initiatives with emerging technologies and automation tools.
• Research emerging technologies to ensure scalability and alignment with business objectives.
