Job summary

The NYC Department of Social Services is seeking an IT Project Specialist functioning as a Unix Middleware Engineer within ITS to oversee infrastructure automation, cloud migration, and identity management. You will design, implement, and maintain high-availability containerized environments and middleware stacks for enterprise apps.

Responsibilities include CI/CD design using Jenkins, container systems (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift), Ansible automation, and AWS services management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 4 years of full-time experience in the area or equivalent.
• Experience with Linux/UNIX, AWS and Azure required.
• Strong scripting skills (Korn/KornShell, Bash, Python, PowerShell, Perl).

Responsibilities

• Oversee complex infrastructure automation, cloud migration, and identity management.
• Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of high-availability containerized environments and middleware stacks.
• Develop and implement Software Release Management strategies and CI/CD models using Jenkins and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• Write Ansible playbooks to automate deployment and integrate with Jenkins for CI/CD.
• Launch and manage AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Route53, VPC) and security groups/load balancers.
• Develop observability strategies and design threshold monitoring; implement Splunk and AppDynamics alerts.
