Job summary

AMD is seeking a senior technical leader for its Datacenter Application & Ecosystem Engineering team. You will mentor engineers, steer architecture discussions, and lead cross-functional efforts to resolve complex platform issues across hardware and software boundaries.

The role emphasizes Windows OS debugging, collaboration with architecture, firmware, and cloud teams, and driving technology directions for next-gen datacenter platforms. Austin or Bellevue options available.

Qualifications

• Advanced experience in systems software, platform engineering, and OS work.
• Strong understanding of x86 server architecture and datacenter platforms.
• Extensive debugging of complex software with WinDBG and related tools.
• Experience with Windows Server, Linux, Hyper-V, VMware, KVM, or similar.
• Solid Python, C, and/or C++ software development skills.
• Automation frameworks, validation tools, or performance analysis infra.
• Ability to run, analyze, and interpret system benchmarks and workloads.
• Familiarity with firmware, BIOS, drivers, or kernel subsystems.
• Proven track record collaborating with customers and ecosystem partners.
• History leading technical projects across organizational boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Lead the solution, development, validation, and optimization of software for AMD datacenter products.
• Drive investigations of hardware, firmware, OS, virtualization, and cloud interactions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship through reviews and troubleshooting.
• Partner with architecture, silicon, firmware, BIOS, OS, and cloud teams to resolve issues.
• Develop performance characterization, benchmarking, workload analysis, and optimizations.
• Design and implement automation frameworks to improve productivity and quality.
• Lead root-cause analysis for complex customer-reported issues and drive resolutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to shape future platform strategies and roadmaps.
• Create technical docs, design specs, and executive-level presentations.
• Represent the team in engagements as a technical subject matter expert.
• Drive continuous improvement in scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Collaborate across organizations to ensure delivery of strategic objectives.
