Senior Software Product Manager

Remote USA • Phenom Cloud

About Us

Phenom Cloud is not your average consultancy. HR is our home turf: we help clients solve their trickiest people-tech puzzles with smart, innovative solutions, backed by strong partnerships with leading HR technology vendors. Our clients operate in complex, highly regulated industries such as advanced manufacturing, life sciences, pharma, retail, and financial services, where "trusted relationship" is a real requirement, not a buzzword in a pitch deck.

What really sets us apart is our people. We know our stuff, we don't take ourselves too seriously, and yes, we are genuinely fun to be around (our clients said so, and we didn't even pay them). Through it all, we keep client excellence at the heart of everything we do. We are not a quick fling: we are a reliable, credible partner who remembers our clients' birthdays, shows up on time, and is still around years later.

Position Summary

If that sounds like your kind of place, and you're a product leader who loves turning great ideas into great software (and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves to make it happen), we should talk.

We're looking for a Senior Software Product Management professional to lead the strategy, execution, and growth of Phenom Cloud's expanding portfolio of enterprise software products, including innovative AI-powered solutions.

This isn't a role for someone who just manages roadmaps, attends sprint reviews, and asks engineering for status updates. We need someone who takes real ownership, understands how software actually works, knows what customers need, and can turn product challenges into opportunities.

You’ll have end-to-end accountability for product strategy, quality, prioritization, and delivery. That means quickly understanding our existing products, identifying what needs improvement, establishing clear priorities, and working closely with engineering to turn requirements into software that actually delivers.

But this isn't just about making products work better. It's about making them more valuable. You’ll study the market, understand competitors, identify opportunities for differentiation, and help shape products customers genuinely want to buy.

You’ll work directly with executive leadership, collaborate across product and engineering teams, and have meaningful influence over the direction of our software business. We’re a growing company, so expect to wear multiple hats. If your ideal role involves a large team handling all the details while you focus exclusively on strategy, this probably isn’t your gig.

For the right entrepreneurial product leader, this is a rare opportunity to take real ownership, make a visible impact, and help scale an innovative software portfolio without navigating layers of corporate bureaucracy.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Own the strategy, roadmap, quality, prioritization, and overall success of Phenom Cloud's software product portfolio
  • Quickly assess existing products, identify functional gaps and usability issues, and drive improvements that make a real difference to customers
  • Establish clear product priorities, balancing critical fixes, customer needs, technical considerations, and strategic enhancements
  • Lead and coordinate product management activities, providing direction, accountability, and oversight across the product lifecycle
  • Partner closely with engineering to translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Drive agile execution through sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and release readiness. We're big fans of shipping great software, not just talking about it
  • Ensure delivered functionality meets requirements, quality standards, and customer expectations
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for innovation, differentiation, and commercial growth
  • Develop and execute product roadmaps that connect customer needs, market opportunities, and business objectives
  • Collaborate with customers, sales, marketing, and delivery teams to gather feedback, shape product direction, and support go-to-market activities
  • Identify opportunities to expand product capabilities, introduce new offerings, and grow recurring software revenue
  • Establish practical, scalable product management processes without turning a fast-moving company into a bureaucracy
Skills & Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in software product management, technical product ownership, or a closely related role
  • Proven experience managing software products through requirements, development, testing, release, and continuous improvement
  • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, sprint management, backlog prioritization, and software development lifecycles
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Strong technical aptitude and the confidence to challenge engineering assumptions, evaluate trade-offs, and get into the details when needed
  • Experience diagnosing product issues, prioritizing improvements, and driving problems through to resolution
  • Strong commercial instincts and the ability to connect product strategy with customer needs, competitive positioning, and business growth
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, particularly when things aren't neatly documented or clearly defined
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, establish accountability, and keep development moving without needing a small army of project managers
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action. You'd rather solve a problem than schedule another meeting to discuss it
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage confidently with engineers, customers, and executives alike
  • Ability to use AI to improve productivity and accelerate product development without sacrificing independent thinking, creativity, or sound judgment
  • A genuinely great teammate who is collaborative, approachable, and fun to work with. We value smart people with small egos and a sense of humor
Some Nice-To-Haves
  • Experience with B2B SaaS, enterprise software, or subscription-based products
  • Background in HR technology, learning management systems, talent management, or workforce technology
  • Experience with AI-powered products, workflow automation, or enterprise software integrations
  • Track record of launching, scaling, or commercializing software products
  • Experience leading product owners, product managers, or cross-functional development teams
  • Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar product management tools
  • Experience in a startup, scale-up, or entrepreneurial software environment where wearing multiple hats comes with the territory
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401K)
  • Remote working
  • Generous paid time off and company holidays
  • Opportunity to take full ownership of a growing software portfolio and directly influence product strategy, innovation, and commercial success
  • Direct access to executive leadership and meaningful influence over the growth and direction of our software business
  • Career growth opportunities as our software portfolio and product organization continue to scale
  • Creative, entrepreneurial environment where decisions happen quickly, great ideas are encouraged, and bureaucracy is kept to a minimum
  • Surround yourself with people who are great at what they do and even better at not taking themselves too seriously
