Job summary

Clarivate Analytics, operating as ProQuest d/b/a Clarivate Analytics (US) LLC, in Ann Arbor, MI, seeks a Manager of Software Engineering to deliver a product while leading a small software engineering team and providing hands-on guidance in coding, architecture, and system design. You will lead technical discussions, drive code reviews, and ensure code quality across the team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of software development experience.
Experience in C#.Net (Net Framework and .NET Core); SQL Server and source code management.
5+ years in cloud computing services (AWS or Azure); MVC; automated unit testing; and deployment tools including Jenkins.
2+ years direct supervision of Software Developers or Engineers.
Experience with Git-based workflows, Scrum, and design documentation tools including Confluence, UML, and Swagger.
Experience with testing frameworks including MSTest and NUnit.
Experience with JavaScript, REST APIs, OpenAPI, and CI/CD tools.
Experience conducting formal performance reviews through Workday or similar platforms.
Experience with caching, algorithm optimizations, and database optimizations.
Experience utilizing Agile tools including Jira, and collaboration tools like Teams or Slack.
Experience with project management tools including MS Project, Trello or Wrike.
Experience with pair-programming.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

Lead a small software engineering team and provide hands-on guidance in coding, architecture, and system design.
Lead technical discussions, facilitate code reviews, and drive innovation.
Actively involved in writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code in accordance with coding standards.
Guide and review team code to ensure quality and maintainability.
Define architecture of software solutions and respond to customer inquiries.
Oversee day-to-day operations and lead a team to meet objectives.
Lead Scrum meetings and end-of-sprint retrospectives; report updates to leadership.
Plan, delegate, and direct day-to-day work to achieve targets and contribute to results.
Identify and drive team-level quality and process improvements.
Support staffing decisions and participate in interviews.
