Job summary

Backblaze is seeking a Senior Software Development Manager to lead the Computer Backup engineering team (desktop client and backend services). You will set long-term technical direction, own multi-quarter delivery, and manage budgets and staff growth.

You will mentor distributed, remote-first teams, participate in architecture decisions, code reviews, and drive AI-assisted development practices to improve quality and velocity across the product.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers or team leads.
• Experience setting long-term technical direction and system architecture.
• Experience owning multi-quarter technical and delivery strategy.
• Experience negotiating scope, schedule, and priorities with product leadership.
• Budget ownership and resourcing responsibility.

• Lead the full Computer Backup engineering team across desktop and backend.
