Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace Lead Software Engineer will drive architecture, development, modernization, and security of mission-critical software across cloud, embedded, and avionics platforms. You will report to the Sr. Engineering Manager and lead a team of engineers in delivering secure, scalable software.

You will champion DevSecOps, SSDLC, and secure coding practices, collaborating with systems, hardware, cybersecurity, and product teams to meet rigorous aerospace requirements and customer goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of technical leadership leading software teams or large projects.
• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience developing software for embedded systems and/or RTOS.

Responsibilities

• Drive DevSecOps strategy and implementation, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security scanning, infrastructure as code, and deployment automation.
• Lead modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy applications to cloud-native and web-based architectures.
• Define and implement secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, cybersecurity, certification, and product teams to develop integrated solutions.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace standards including DO-178C, ARP4754A, and related regulatory requirements where applicable.
• Support software certification activities, including requirements traceability, verification, validation, and audit readiness.
• Establish software quality metrics, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and develop engineers while providing technical leadership across multiple programs and projects.
• Drive adoption of modern software technologies, cloud platforms, and AI-assisted development capabilities where appropriate.
