Job summary

Collectors is modernizing its platform with a TypeScript microservices architecture and Next.js frontends. We seek a Senior Software Engineer who will own features end to end, from database to UI, raise the bar through code reviews, and mentor teammates.

You will build production-grade backend services, help replace legacy Java/PHP components, and apply robust testing, security, and observability. Remote-friendly, otherwise on-site in Santa Ana, CA.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production full-stack web applications.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js (NestJS/Express) or strong Java/ Spring Boot with motivation to work in TS.
• Strong relational DB skills (PostgreSQL/MySQL) with ORM usage (TypeORM/Sequelize).
• Frontend engineering with React (Next.js strongly preferred), SSR/ISR, accessibility, performance.
• Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST required; GraphQL a plus) and CI/CD.
• Automated testing and observability as part of definition of done.
• Experience with AWS and containerized deployment (Docker).
• Ability to work independently on multi-sprint efforts and review AI-generated code with discipline.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver production-ready, testable solutions across multiple products.
• Develop backend services in NestJS/TypeScript and frontend features in Next.js/React.
• Modernize legacy services and carve functionality into modern services.
• Apply security, testing, documentation, and monitoring best practices.
• Deploy and operate services on AWS (ECS, Lambda) with Docker and IaC (CDK/ Terraform).
• Leverage AI tooling to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality.
