Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Software Engineer SME to influence technology strategy and shape software architecture for mission-critical objectives. This role blends technical leadership with Scrum mastery, guiding agile teams, driving modernization, and delivering scalable, secure software in a distributed environment.

Based across locations including Alexandria, VA, the candidate will mentor engineers, oversee CI/CD and DevSecOps practices, and collaborate with stakeholders to align technical direction

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required per contract.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field and 12-15 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 10-14 years of prior relevant experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in software engineering, architecture, and application development.
• Demonstrated experience serving as a Scrum Master, Agile team lead, or technical leader.
• Strong understanding of Scrum principles, Agile delivery frameworks, backlog management, sprint execution, and continuous improvement.
• Experience facilitating collaboration among multidisciplinary teams and customer stakeholders.
• Expert‑level knowledge with web technologies, OOP languages, and cloud platforms.
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, and containerized environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical leader and Scrum Master for Agile software teams.
• Coach engineering teams on Agile principles and continuous improvement.
• Align sprint objectives with customer mission requirements.
• Identify cross-team dependencies and delivery risks.
• Champion CI/CD, automated testing, and secure software delivery.
• Provide technical leadership across the full software lifecycle.
• Lead architecture, design reviews, and modernization initiatives.
