Job summary

Thales Group in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Software Engineer with hands-on and technical leadership responsibilities. You will shape software architectures, drive secure, scalable solutions, and own core products across cloud and on-prem environments while mentoring teams.

Responsibilities include leading design reviews, enforcing engineering standards, and guiding project delivery with a focus on CJIS/regulated contexts where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• 8–12 years of experience in software engineering with strong design and lifecycle knowledge.
• Expert in Java, Angular, or React for complex, mission-critical systems.
• Proficient in AWS/Azure and infra-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform, Helm).
• Experience leading deployment and integration of multi-component systems.
• Strong PKI/security design, data protection, and API security.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams to design and evolve software solutions.
• Lead the full software lifecycle at a systems/architecture level for cloud-based products.
• Deploy, configure, and validate core products in cloud environments per guidelines.
• Define engineering standards, patterns, and practices for secure, scalable software.
• Drive root-cause analysis for complex issues and define sustainable fixes.
• Lead architectural reviews and maintain authoritative technical documentation.
