Job summary

Thales Group in Austin, TX is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to ensure high service levels for a cloud-based telecom solution, with a hybrid onsite/work model.

You design and maintain scalable infra using Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI/CD, improve reliability, and respond to incidents.

Requirements include 5+ years in distributed systems, strong Java skills, NoSQL familiarity, and collaboration with security and product teams.

Qualifications

• Engineer or equivalent education.
• At least 5 years of experience in site reliability or cloud-enabled platforms.
• Proficiency in Java development and modern cloud architectures.

Responsibilities

• Automation & IaC: build scalable infra with Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes.
• Availability: define SLOs/SLIs and manage error budgets.
• Incident Management: 24/7 on-call and troubleshoot production issues.
• Performance & Capacity: analyze performance, plan for growth.
• Observability: monitor with Datadog for health and insights.
• Postmortems: lead blameless reviews and implement fixes.
• Security & Compliance: collaborate with security teams on best practices.
