Job summary

Stellar Development Foundation in San Francisco is seeking a software engineer to design, build, and implement changes to Stellar Core—the backbone of the Stellar network. You will work on edge-case analysis, performance, and scalable architectures within a small, autonomous team.

You will collaborate with the CTO and open source community, write RFCs, review code, and drive subsystem ownership while delivering robust, maintainable C++ or Rust implementations for a high-scale distributed system.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development on a team.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficient in modern C++ or Rust in production.
• Excellent communicator with design/review leadership.
• Strong knowledge of software design patterns and modular architectures.
• Passion for performance debugging and benchmarking.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core Stellar Core components.
• Develop scalable, extensible technologies for developers and network participants.
• Collaborate on architectures with CTO, engineers and open source community.
• Write clean, maintainable code with edge-case analysis.
• Own core subsystems and drive product milestones.
• Review code and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks for scaling.
• Draft detailed RFC specifications for features.
