Job summary

Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) is seeking a software engineer to design and implement Stellar Core components, with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability. You will collaborate across teams and the open-source community to advance the Stellar network.

You will work on edge-case analysis, future-proofing, and RFC-driven architecture in a small, autonomous team. The role offers a hybrid work model in New York with a strong culture of innovation and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience developing software on a team.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficiency in modern C++ or Rust in production.
• Strong communication and leadership for design reviews.
• Solid understanding of software design patterns and modularity.

Responsibilities

• Design and build key components of Stellar Core—the backbone of the Stellar Network.
• Develop scalable, robust technologies for developers and network participants.
• Collaborate on architectures and RFCs with CTO, engineers and the open-source community.
• Write clean, maintainable code with attention to edge cases and future-proofing.
• Own core subsystems and help hit critical milestones.
• Participate in code reviews and establish best practices for engineering at SDF.
• Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks to scale the system.
• Author detailed protocol specifications and RFC documents.
