Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Senior Software Engineer to lead design, development, testing, and sustainment of non-embedded software for space systems and ground segments. You will architect high-performance APIs, drive UI/UX and backend services, and guide teams through modern DevSecOps practices.

The role requires strong leadership, technical depth, and the ability to operate in complex, ambiguous environments while ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• 5+ years of software development for space systems and ground segments (C2, mission planning, data processing).
• 5+ years of development experience using Python.
• 3+ years of experience with JavaScript (Angular, JQuery).
• 3+ years of experience with TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Architect high‑performance APIs connecting front‑end and back‑end services.
• Agile DevSecOps execution across components.
• Full lifecycle ownership from design through deployment.
• Backend ecosystem development with emphasis on automation, testing, and security.
• Code quality leadership through reviews to enforce standards.
• Front‑end development translating design mockups into functional UIs.
• Product quality advocacy for security and performance.
• Team leadership and mentoring in ambiguous environments.
• Software lifecycle execution across the full stack.
• Requirements translation from customer needs into software designs.
