Job summary

HeroDevs LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Never-Ending Support (NES) team in the United States. You will research new product lines, backport CVE patches for end-of-life runtimes (PHP, Postgres, NGINX, etc.), and deliver builds across distributions.

You will build automation, maintain legacy build environments, and support customer engineering teams during compatibility and upgrade paths. This is a senior, high-autonomy role focusing on security and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience reading and re-implementing security patches in unfamiliar code bases.
• Strong knowledge of Linux packaging, build tooling, and multiple distros.
• Proven ability to backport CVE fixes to end-of-life software.
• Experience with cross-compilation and multiple CPU architectures.
• Familiarity with large open source runtimes and CVE history.

Responsibilities

• Research and prove new NES products by evaluating codebases and CVE history.
• Backport security fixes to end-of-life versions in C/C++ and other languages.
• Build and deliver packages across many Linux distributions.
• Maintain legacy build environments and resurrect old toolchains.
• Develop AI-assisted automation for triage and patch analysis.
• Provide support to customers’ engineering teams on compatibility.
