HeroDevs, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Never-Ending Support (NES) team to develop and prove new product lines in runtimes, patch CVEs, and deliver builds across distributions.

You will research new products, backport fixes, build automation, and support customers while shaping security-focused engineering.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of runtimes and server internals (Node.js, PHP, NGINX, PostgreSQL).
• Ability to read and reason about unfamiliar low-level C/C++ code and reimplement patches.
• Experience reviewing security patches for correctness and memory safety.
• Deep knowledge of Linux packaging and build tooling (autotools, CMake, Make, RPM/DEB).
• Experience with multiple Linux distributions and cross-compilation for x86_64 and aarch64.
• Familiar with AI-assisted automation for triage, patch analysis, and regression verification.
• Strong ownership of correctness and quality with rigorous testing.
• Comfortable in a small, autonomous team and proactive in shaping processes.

Responsibilities

• Research and prove out NES products with secure build pipelines.
• Backport CVE patches across end-of-life versions in C/C++ and other languages.
• Build and deliver packages across many Linux distributions.
• Maintain legacy build environments and dependencies.
• Develop AI-assisted automation for patch analysis and regression checks.
• Maintain test harnesses validating patch correctness and backwards compatibility.
• Provide technical support to customers' engineering teams on compatibility and upgrades.
