Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Specialist, Software Engineering in Colorado Springs. The role leads software sustainment for a fielded satellite communications system, addressing security findings and delivering reliable software for operations.

You will guide architecture, design, implementation, testing, and cross-discipline collaboration, with occasional travel and requirement for TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance required.
• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years, or equivalent experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience is required.
• Demonstrated expertise developing production software in Python, Java, C, C++, or comparable object-oriented languages.
• Strong experience developing and troubleshooting software in Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting and system-level debugging.
• Demonstrated experience with software architecture and design, automated unit and integration testing, and delivery of maintainable, well-documented code.
• Proven technical leadership in design reviews, code reviews, complex debugging, and mentoring or guiding less-experienced engineers.
• Ability to work on-site and communicate complex technical information clearly to engineering and program stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, documentation, implementation, code review, and automated testing of complex software features and sustainment releases.
• Own technically challenging sustainment activities, including security remediation, root-cause analysis, system improvements, and resolution of customer-impacting software issues.
• Provide technical guidance to team members; contribute to development standards, peer reviews, planning, estimation, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
• Partner with systems, test, cybersecurity, and customer stakeholders to define solutions, verify system behavior, and support deployment and operational readiness.
