Job summary

L3Harris is seeking a Senior Specialist, Software Engineering in Colorado Springs to lead software sustainment for a fielded satellite communications system. The role focuses on security remediation, architecture, testing, and cross-discipline collaboration to ensure mission readiness.

Requires active TS/SCI clearance, strong OO language skills (Python/Java/C/C++), and on-site work in Colorado Springs. Occasional travel may be needed; 9/80 schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years experience, or Graduate Degree with 7+ years, or 13+ years equivalent experience.
• Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance required.
• Expertise in production software in Python, Java, C, C++, or OO languages.
• Experience in Unix/Linux environments including shell scripting and debugging.
• Experience with software architecture, automated testing, and maintainable code.
• Technical leadership in design reviews, code reviews, debugging, mentoring.
• Ability to work on-site and communicate complex tech info to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, documentation, implementation, code review, and automated testing of complex software features and sustainment releases.
• Own sustainment activities including security remediation, root-cause analysis, system improvements, and customer-impacting issues.
• Provide technical guidance to team members; contribute to standards, peer reviews, planning, estimation.
• Partner with systems, test, cybersecurity, and customer stakeholders to define solutions, verify behavior, and support deployment; travel may be required; TS/SCI clearance is required.
