Discord Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer for the Safety Experience team to design, build, and maintain features that keep hundreds of millions of users safe while meeting regulatory requirements.

You will own backend APIs, data pipelines, and production services, and partner with cross‑functional teams to deploy scalable safety solutions. This role emphasizes leadership in end-to-end delivery, debugging production systems, and using metrics to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience writing Python and backend APIs (Flask, Django).
• 5+ years experience with frontend JS (React, TypeScript) for web and mobile.
• Experience with Cassandra, Postgres, or ScyllaDB.
• Proven track record delivering complex projects end-to-end.
• Experience debugging and testing production systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Experience using metrics and dashboards for data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of user-facing safety features at scale.
• Design, build, deploy production APIs, services, and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Policy, Data Science, ML, Legal, and T&S Ops.
• Iterate on in-house tooling to improve T&S workflows.
• Respond rapidly to evolving abuse and compliance landscape.
