Job summary

Discord is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Safety Experience team and lead the development of user-facing safety and compliance features. You will design and build scalable backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines while collaborating with product, design, policy, and engineering teams to create impactful solutions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Python experience with Flask or Django, frontend skills in JavaScript, React, and TypeScript, and hands-on work with PostgreSQL,

Qualifications

5+ years of Python backend experience.
Experience with Flask or Django.
Frontend skills with JavaScript, React, and TypeScript.
Experience with PostgreSQL, Cassandra or ScyllaDB.
Proven track record leading end-to-end projects.
Experience troubleshooting production systems and using metrics dashboards.

Responsibilities

Lead development of user-facing safety features and compliance tooling.
Design and build scalable backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines.
Collaborate with product, design, policy, and engineering teams to deliver impact.
Iterate on internal tools to improve trust and safety workflows.
Respond swiftly to evolving abuse and compliance challenges.
