Job summary

PENN Entertainment, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Bet Engine team in a remote US capacity. You will design and scale GraphQL APIs, low-latency services, and SQL queries powering sportsbook wagering and grading engines.

You will own technical problems end-to-end in a collaborative agile environment, identify bottlenecks, set up monitoring in Datadog, and mentor engineers across teams to improve performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong backend development experience with scalable systems.
• Experience with GraphQL, gRPC and SQL in production.
• Familiarity with monitoring and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect and deliver GraphQL APIs, gRPC services, and SQL queries powering wagering and ledger systems.
• Own technical problems of high scope and complexity, drafting proposals and presenting to leadership.
• Design end-to-end features in an agile environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Identify bottlenecks and risks in production, driving improvements for scalability and reliability.
• Set up robust monitoring and alerting (Datadog) and mentor engineers across teams.
