Job summary

PENN Entertainment, Inc. is a leading provider of integrated entertainment, sports content, and casino gaming experiences with iCasino platforms like theScore and PENN Interactive.

The team builds scalable, reliable online gaming services and integrates with third-party providers to power real-money wagering. We seek a senior software engineer with Elixir and GraphQL expertise to design and scale lobby, game launches, and payout flows in a collaborative agile environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in software engineering.
• 2+ years building applications in Elixir.
• 2+ years designing and evolving GraphQL schemas.
• Strong foundation in CS and distributed systems.
• Experience with production systems at scale and performance tracing.

Responsibilities

• Design, scale, and tune GraphQL APIs, gRPC services, and SQL queries for lobby, game launch, and real-money flows.
• Own high-impact technical problems, propose solutions, and present to leadership.
• Architect and deliver new features and provider integrations in an agile environment.
• Identify bottlenecks and improve platform scalability.
• Set up monitoring and alerting in DataDog for owned systems.
• Mentor engineers across teams through specs, pairing, and code reviews.
• Other duties as required.
