Job summary

Upbound is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help scale Upbound Spaces, the multi-control-plane management software at the heart of the Upbound Platform. You will work on production reliability, multi-tenant environments, and enterprise-grade control planes across cloud and on-prem deployments.

You will build and operate Kubernetes-oriented services, contribute to open-source projects like Crossplane, and collaborate with customers to resolve complex issues while improving system

Qualifications

• Experience running production cloud services at scale with reliability engineering practices.
• Strong debugging skills for distributed systems and observability tooling.
• Experience building and operating controllers interacting with the Kubernetes API.

Responsibilities

• Operate Upbound Spaces in production, troubleshooting multi-tenant SaaS environments and open-source work.
• Own high-demand features and deliver reliable, scalable functionality for customers.
• Investigate complex issues in customer environments, including multi-control plane scenarios.
• Document designs, post-incident reviews, and system improvements.
• Support full project lifecycle across discovery, design, deployment, and production-readiness.
• Write Go code interfacing with Kubernetes API, emphasizing observability and reliability.
• Deploy and manage Kubernetes services in production using metrics and traces.
• Develop tooling for debugging customer environments and automation of incident response.
• Create runbooks, guides, and blogs to promote new features.
