Job summary

Upbound is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build and operate Upbound Spaces, the multi-control-plane management software at the heart of the Upbound Platform. You will scale production environments, extend enterprise-grade control plane management, and contribute to both product development and operations across cloud and on‑prem environments.

We’re prioritizing candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle, with a strong focus on reliability, observability, and customer impact.

Qualifications

Experience operating production cloud services at scale, including monitoring and incident response.
Strong debugging skills across distributed systems and observability tooling.
Experience building/controllers interacting with the Kubernetes API and optimizing performance.

Responsibilities

Actively build and operate Upbound Spaces in production for multi-tenant SaaS workloads.
Take ownership of features in high demand and deliver new functionality for users.
Investigate and debug complex issues in customer environments and multi-control plane scenarios.
Write design docs and post-incident reviews to improve systems.
Support release cycles for Spaces self-hosted distributions and on-call rotation.
