Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead design, development, testing, and maintenance of software for Abbott Cancer Diagnostics. You will make key technical decisions, mentor teammates, and ensure high-quality software with minimal supervision.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams to develop and sustain software systems following design controls and engineering best practices, with opportunities to base in Madison, WI or Redwood City, CA and a remote setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, CS, IS, math or engineering.
• Strong object-oriented programming and software design knowledge.
• Experience designing apps with RESTful services and relational databases.
• Experience with cloud frameworks (Azure/AWS) and agile tooling (JIRA, Confluence).

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing, and maintenance of software for Abbott Cancer Diagnostics.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, mentor juniors, and ensure software quality with minimal supervision.
• Develop, enhance, and sustain systems following design controls and best practices.
• Work with cross‑functional teams and communicate project plans and status.
