Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II for the FAI team to design, build, and operate scalable, low-latency services and data pipelines powering real-time order promises, picking, batching, and delivery decisions.

You will own end-to-end services, collaborating with product, data science, ML, and operations, while mentoring peers and driving reliability, observability, and cost optimization in a fast-moving grocery marketplace.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend services or distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, Python, or Scala.
• Experience designing and operating microservices on AWS, GCP, or Azure using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Kafka or Pub/Sub and Redis or relational databases.
• Proven ownership of production services including observability and on-call rotations.
• Experience delivering in an agile environment with cross-functional partners.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate low-latency microservices and data pipelines for fulfillment planning.
• Collaborate with ML and data science to productionize models and experiments.
• Own services end-to-end from design to on-call and observability.
• Improve reliability, scalability, and cost through SLOs and capacity planning.
• Work cross-functionally with Product, Marketplace, and Operations to define roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, pair programming, and engineering standards.
