Job summary

Lithic is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Processing to lead real-time interfaces between Lithic and external payment networks. You will own high-reliability, low-latency transaction processing across Mastercard, Visa, and Amex, including authorization, clearing, and settlement surfaces.

The role requires strong distributed systems skills and ownership mindset. The role emphasizes network peering, on-call duties, and collaboration with product and engineering managers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience shipping code in fast-paced production environments.
• Advanced distributed systems instincts and design skills.
• Experience driving large cross-functional projects across engineering, product, and operations teams.
• Proven commitment to empathy and inclusion.

• Interest in fintech and the payments space is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high reliability, low latency, and correctness for Lithic's transaction processing interfaces and related services.
• Develop new capabilities across authorization, clearing/settlement, disputes, and network integration surfaces.
• Ensure the team delivers reliable, secure, and scalable code with minimal tech debt.
• Evolve infrastructure supporting network peering with card network partners, ensuring connectivity and capacity meet reliability requirements.
• Own initiatives from planning to launch, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned.
• Participate in the team on-call rotation.
• Lead efforts to improve systems and processes within the team and across engineering.
• Help drive strategic planning in collaboration with the engineering manager and product manager.
