Job summary

Akamai in the United States is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Platform Security Engineering to build secure, scalable platform components and services.

You will collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, DevOps, and InfoSec to deliver end-to-end security implementations and contribute to Akamai's cloud security posture. The role emphasizes hands-on coding in Python/Go and expertise in Zero Trust, IaC, and security tooling.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant software engineering and design experience or 5 years with an MS degree.
• Programming capabilities in Python or Go to develop new product ideas and evolve existing systems.
• Familiar with security concepts such as Zero Trust and secure/confidential computing.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, TLS/SSL networking concepts.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code technologies (Terraform, Salt, etc.).
• Experience with software and hardware vulnerability management and tools (Tenable, Vulcan Cyber, Trivy, SonarQube).
• Knowledge of PCI, ISO, SOC2, and FedRamp compliance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality code and end-to-end security implementations focused on scalability, availability, reliability, and performance.
• Support the full product life cycle – ideation, implementation, operation.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, DevOps, and InfoSec to satisfy needs in the software development life cycle.
• Socialize and build consensus around engineering decisions to provide stable and secure products.
• Solve complex security problems across platform and product domains.
