Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. in the U.S. government engineering space is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design, deploy, and secure custom government network platforms across Akamai's cloud and edge stack.

You will lead CI/CD pipelines, collaborate with Operations and SRE, implement Zero Trust, PKI standards, and rely on Linux, Python/Perl, and Docker to deliver robust solutions. This role requires US citizenship, 5 years of experience, and a bachelor's in CS; base compensation ranges

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Solid knowledge of Linux/Unix administration, configuration, system-level software development, and debugging tools.
• Proficiency in Linux shell scripting and interpretive languages including Python or Perl.
• Experience managing CI/CD automation pipelines using Jenkins or similar tooling.
• Hands-on familiarity with Docker containers, NoSQL databases, cloud storage, and networking protocols.
• Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture, PKI standards, systems security, and security patching.
• US Citizenship, eligible for security clearance; active clearance not required.

Responsibilities

• Managing CI/CD pipelines, enhancing software tools, and developing robust testing frameworks to ensure quality release standards.
• Leading technical initiatives and taking ownership of design, deployment, and evolution of custom government network platforms.
• Designing and developing next-generation capabilities for custom platform services in a collaborative environment.
• Guiding code reviews, applying security patches, and identifying ongoing improvements for software delivery and system performance.
• Collaborating across cross-functional teams to manage SDLC release cycles using modern Agile practices and AI-assisted workflows.
• Partnering with Operations, Engineering, and SRE teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex technical system issues.
