Job summary

Eliassen Group in Rockville, MD is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain data-intensive applications that ingest multiple data sources and surface insights through correlation and analysis.

You will provide technical leadership, contribute to architecture and strategy, and mentor teammates while leveraging AI-assisted development tools and best practices. The role emphasizes production support, security, and scalable architectures.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Security (OAuth2 and LDAP), Hibernate, Python, and Node.js with strong OO design, RESTful API design, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Hands-on with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, SES, SQS, SNS, RDS, ECS, API Gateway) plus CloudWatch/CloudTrail, IAM, VPC, and IaC using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Containerization with Docker.
• Build and test tools: Maven, Gradle, JUnit 5.
• CI/CD pipelines, test automation, unit testing, and software security best practices.
• Nice to have: React or Angular frontend, GitLab CI/CD, AI development tools with strong validation.

You will provide technical leadership, contribute to architecture and technical strategy, and use AI-assisted development tools with sound review practices. You will support production systems, address technical risks proactively, and collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver high-quality outcomes aligned with investor protection and market integrity.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain applications that ingest multiple data sources and surface insights through correlation and analysis with attention to code quality and performance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship and guide effective, responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
• Participate in architecture discussions, contribute to technical strategy, and define technical solutions or operational processes with measurable impact.
• Identify and resolve technical risks and cross-team dependencies early to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
• Support production systems and troubleshoot complex issues, simplifying code and infrastructure to reduce maintenance and migration costs.
• Apply computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, problem solving, complexity analysis, and data structures.

Experience Requirements:

• Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Security (OAuth2 and LDAP), Hibernate, Python, and Node.js with strong object-oriented design, RESTful API design, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
• Hands-on with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, SES, SQS, SNS, RDS, ECS, and API Gateway, plus CloudWatch or CloudTrail, IAM, VPC networking, and IaC using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Containerization with Docker.
• Build and test tools such as Maven, Gradle, and JUnit 5.
• CI/CD pipelines, test automation, unit testing, and software security best practices.
• Nice to have: Frontend experience with React or Angular, GitLab CI/CD exposure, and experience with AI development tools such as Amazon Kiro or similar with strong validation practices.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline with at least seven years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Background in system design, cloud technologies, relational and NoSQL data stores, performance tuning and optimization, DevOps and CI/CD, test automation and unit testing, and software security.
