Job summary

SimSpace is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the internet simulation platform — an eBPF-based kernel-space model that reproduces global routing without real routers. You will guide the architectural direction, mentor engineers, and partner with a Principal Engineer and Engineering Manager to deliver a production-grade system.

The role emphasizes hands-on kernel networking, XDP/TC design, topology data pipelines, and cross-team collaboration to support multi-tenant cyber range

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in Linux kernel networking and eBPF programming for kernel-space packet processing.
  • Strong systems programming skills in C or Rust, and Go or Python for tooling.
  • Solid understanding of real-world internet routing: BGP, ASN topology, CIDR, inter-AS peering.
  • Experience with control plane vs data plane separation and intermittent connectivity scenarios.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and the ability to guide a team and reviews.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes as the deployment environment for services and agents.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end architecture of the eBPF-based routing simulation layer, including XDP and TC hook design.
  • Design and build the control-plane topology database and topology data pipeline.
  • Architect the in-range proxy agent bridging control plane to cyber ranges and manage DNS delegation.
  • Define interface contracts between control plane and agents and handle resilience.
  • Serve as technical lead, conduct design reviews, and guide multiple engineering roles.
  • Collaborate with adjacent teams on long-lived, multi-tenant cyber range deployments.
