Job summary

Vast is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer in Long Beach, CA to develop fault-tolerant, safety-critical flight software for Haven missions. You will work with avionics, GNC, Thermal, Propulsion, Power, and ECLSS teams to integrate flight code with hardware, and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

The role is full-time, exempt, based in Long Beach. Requires 5+ years in C++ and experience with embedded systems, spacecraft or autonomous systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of professional C++ coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly reliable flight software for Haven missions.
• Collaborate with GNC, Thermal, Propulsion, Power, and ECLSS to implement algorithms.
• Assess code quality through reviews and adherence to standards.
• Develop driver-level code to interface with radios, sensors, and actuators.
• Develop and maintain telemetry and commanding systems for vehicles.
• Create unit and integration tests and establish a CI framework.
