Job summary
SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA, seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Additive Manufacturing (Raptor) to build core software for metal 3D printing, including controls, data acquisition, build logic and in-situ monitoring. You will enable production-scale machines and impact high-performance rocket hardware.
You will collaborate with automation and engineering teams, follow software best practices, and contribute to advanced monitoring and analytics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or 8+ years of software experience.
- 5+ years of production C++ experience.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and Linux environment.
- Experience with real-time embedded software or mechatronics is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop software for a production-scale 3D metal printing system and the infrastructure to verify them.
- Collaborate with automation and controls engineers to connect software to motion and control systems.
- Develop and maintain additive software across domains to improve hardware outcomes.
- Follow and maintain software engineering best practices, including reviews.
- Develop production-ready control software for lasing and control systems in the printers.
