Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineer (Raptor) in Hawthorne, CA to advance printer platforms and AM processes. You’ll collaborate with design and materials teams to optimize prints, parameters, and heat treatments for high-quality parts.

Responsibilities include data collection, process improvements, and safety enhancements. 1+ years of hands-on fabrication/assembly and a strong engineering background are required; Master’s degree is preferred for advanced applicants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• 1+ years of hands-on fabrication, assembly, testing or project management experience.
• Preferred: Master’s in aeronautical/astronautical/mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Drive projects to improve printer platforms for robustness and repeatability.
• Develop and test additive manufacturing processes using powder-bed and powder-fed methods.
• Identify and implement continuous process improvements.
• Collaborate with design teams to optimize features for AM.
• Generate/build files to produce high quality parts efficiently.
• Work with materials engineers to optimize print parameters and heat treatments.
• Collect and analyze process data with minimal burden.
• Document best practices for new equipment and processes.
• Identify safety improvements across the AM process.
